Trench Offensive - January 2026

This January, I played Trench Offensive with my best friend. While Dave played the Germans, I played as the British. My army list was an Inexperienced Officer and four Veterans. Dave had an NCO and nine privates.

While Dave won a game, I won a second. The second game was when Private Tommy Peacock became a hero.

This character can be used. Please see below.

THE LONDON GAZETTE

TUESDAY, 24 DECEMBER, 1916

War Office, 24th December, 1916.

The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Victoria Cross to the undermentioned Officer:—

Private Tommy Peacock, 1th Bn, Cambridgeshire Regiment.

For most conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty during an attack on enemy trenches near the Schwaben Redoubt on the morning of 14th October 1916.

When his company was held up by intense machine-gun fire and all officers and most other ranks had become casualties except, Private Peacock, realising the urgency of the situation, he dashed forward alone over open ground to the enemy's position. Despite being wounded in the shoulder, he reached the first line of defence and accounted for the crew of the machine gun with his rifle and hand bombs, thus allowing his platoon to advance and capture the objective.

Later, although again severely wounded, he refused to be evacuated until the captured position had been consolidated against a heavy counter-attack. His magnificent courage and bravery saved a critical situation and inspired all who witnessed his actions.
