PANDY UPDATE: Adventures, Miniatures, and More!
What an absolutely wild few weeks it's been! First, I plunged into the vibrant chaos of the UK Games Expo, then hopped straight onto a ferry for a week of immersive leadership training in France, drawing inspiration from the D-Day landings. And what's next? In just a couple of days, we're set to release nine brand-new miniatures for Threat Level: Emergency Response, including the one and only Punk Santa!
UK Games Expo: A Rollercoaster Ride
The UK Games Expo truly was a rollercoaster for my mental health. Day one was a hive of activity, buzzing with incredible people. However, I did get a bit of a reality check when a UK distributor politely — but firmly — indicated I was "too small." Fair enough, I only had one scheduled meeting all weekend! Despite that, days two and three were still fantastic. While not as busy on the meeting front, I had the pleasure of connecting with so many awesome folks and even managed to squeeze in some shopping.
DWARVEN HOLIDAYS: A Solo Adventure Awaits!
Development on Dwarven Holidays is progressing nicely! I've nearly completed the first draft of the rules and will be sending them out to our playtesters shortly. This game is designed for light-hearted, solo fun, but it's also crafted to easily draw others into its unique world.
Magic in the Mines
Integrating magic has been a new and exciting challenge for me. Modern emergency services and the Great War certainly don't call for it! However, I'm keeping the fantasy low-key. While dwarves, demi-humans, and goblins populate the world, magic is primarily limited to healing, weapon empowerment, and similar practical uses. My aim is for heroes to explore dungeons without worrying about meteors or bunker-busting spells. There will be some offensive magic, but it's designed to be quite labour-intensive, ensuring it's used strategically.
Familiar Mechanics, Fresh Adventures
Much of the game will feel familiar to players of Trench Offensive. I've got a solid system that's proven to be both effective and easy to grasp. However, the "over the top" rule has been removed. Instead of the Trench Offensive’s dedicated Verdun supplement, which I've incorporated similar mechanics into specific missions. This gave snipers a better chance to hit, especially when fighting in villages. Dungeons can still feature multi-level areas, allowing heroes to gain tactical height advantages or engage on their own terms.
TRENCH OFFENSIVE: Tanks Roll Out!
Get ready for some serious firepower! Tanks and heavy weapon platforms are rumbling their way into Trench Offensive. I'm still hammering out the final title for the supplement, but I'm currently leaning towards "Toast with Gun Jam." What do you think? I'd love to hear your suggestions!
This tank supplement will bring true solo play to Trench Offensive, utilizing an intuitive card-based AI system. Players will finally be able to attack trench networks with a tank and its crew in immersive narrative campaigns. Plus, this versatile card system will also enhance normal play.
THREAT LEVEL: EMERGENCY RESPONSE: My Favorite Game!
Threat Level: Emergency Response remains my absolute favourite! While there's not a huge amount to report on the development front right now, we're all very excited for the upcoming new miniatures, which I've been sharing on our social media channels. We're also looking into European Emergency Services content, and the hospital expansion is still firmly in the works.
I'm also really keen to create a campaign inspired by "Dead Man's Shoes"—it's an awesome movie! Starting Pandyman Entertainment over five years ago, I didn't quite realize it would demand full-time dedication, especially since I'm still working a day job. Nevertheless, I'm committed, and I'll soon be adding an all-in bundle for TLER to make it even easier to jump into the action.
